IT band?
what the heck?? I just can’t run anymore!! The pain starts up in and around the knee cap area and progresses to the entire leg after just warming up–1-2 miles. I have seen the chiro-got massage & electric stim–
geez the marathon was back in October–could I have really screwed up my knee? I’m thinking IT band cause the pain encompasses my whole leg once this happens.
I am so down about this!! Running is my mantra!! anybody got suggestions?

LONG BEACH, CA MARATHON-YES I DID!
Started out a bit too fast–(9-10 min pace) So after mile 3 the groin/hamstring injury began to rear it’s ugly head. By the 5k mark I was starting to feel some pain. I pushed on. At around mile 10 the division came (the split), where the half marathoners go back to the beach & celebrate & the marathoners hang a right & head into the neighborhood–I steered right–determined to do this thing. I was running a pretty good pace at that point—all things considered–but at around the half way point I just couldn’t keep running–had to alternate run/walk. Thanks to all the fantastic support of my family along the way and the great CA folks–spraying my legs with bio-freeze and tossing me everything from GU’s to Gummy Bears–I finished in a little over 5 hours–26.2 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

the pain is still there-arghhhh
geez, am I gonna be ready for the marathon–Oct. 11th? sure doesn’t feel good now. At this point it would seem I will have to walk much of it. My confidence is really low. Damn groin.

a set back…ouch! : (
set out for a big 22 mile training run–with only a month to go before the big marathon–after 7.5 miles my right knee/thigh/leg (not sure totally) shouted out “OWWWWW!!” Was it because of the uneven terrain?–running on a crummy dirt path? was it just lactose buildup? was it because I didn’t stretch, warm up enough? eat enough carbs? Gt enough rest? I just don’t know–(no swelling–thank goodness)..
anyway, I tried to run & walk the rest of the way to the car–but after 10 miles called it quits for the day. Just didn’t want to chance it–in this case & at this point of my training– running in pain is REALLY no gain….Very disappointing though.
Not going to be too discouraged. Will try & jog a slow 5 k today & see how the leg feels. Maybe try the 22 again next Mon.
